Walmart: 24 hours before Black Friday 2009 : Product Reviews Net
Thanksgiving is a day to spend a nice relaxing time with your family, as well as a time to recharge your batteries ready for Black Friday, and 2009 is set to be busier than ever. Walmart are hoping that shoppers will visit their stores in huge numbers this year, as such will be opening for 24 hours on Thanksgiving Day.
The long hours is hoped to ease the crowds for those who are lining up ready for Black Friday 2009 deals. Wal-Mart spokesperson E.R. Anderson told The Baltimore Sun that the doorbusters will not be made available until 5.am on November 27.
The main reason behind these new longer opening hours was because of what happened last year on Black Friday. A security guard on duty at a Long Island store was trampled to death by shoppers trying to bag a bargain.
Other stores have also been announcing longer opening hours, JCPenny has said that they will be opening from 4 a.m. on November 27, Black Friday, they will also open their stores from 8 a.m. the Saturday, November 28.
