Women’s Aerials Odds

China brings three of the top four favorites to win the gold medal in the Women’s Aerials for the 2010 Winter Olympics.
Bet The 2010 Winter Olympics
According to vancouver2010.com, competitors in aerials determine their in-run location based on the type of jump performed, their own freestyle technique and the current environmental conditions. Correct in-run speed is critical to successful aerial performances and athletes can choose two of many different jumps that combine back flips and twists with differing degrees of difficulty. Athletes are judged on the quality of take off, height gained, form and body position, and how they maintain balance upon landing. All competitors complete two jumps in a qualification round. The 16 aerialists with the highest total scores from the qualification round move on to the final round. In the final round, competitors complete two more jumps in reverse order from the qualification results. The aerialist with the highest combined score from the two final jumps wins.
The 2006 silver medalist in the Olympic games, Nina Li, is favored to win.
Li has odds of 6/5 to win the gold medal according to online sports book SBGGLOBAL. Other short odds to win are Lydia Lassila (4/1), Mengtao Xu (7/1), and Shuang Cheng (8/1).
Li competes for China and won the silver medal in this event in 2006. Li is also a three-time world champion in aerials, winning in 2005, 2007, and 2009.
Lassila competes for
Australia and she competed in the 2006 Olympics, but a knee injury kept her from winning a medal. She finished second in the overall World Cup rankings in 2007-08. Lassila has won two aerial events in 2010 for World Cup competition.
Xu competes for
China and she won a World Cup aerial event on Dec. 20 of 2009 and has since won a silver on Jan. 14.
Cheng also competes for
China and she took home silver in the World Cup event on Jan. 30. It was her lone medal of the 2009-10 World Cup season.
